LIFTING OUR VOICES TOGETHER
LIFTING OUR VOICES TOGETHER
A bit about jazz..
Jazz originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was developed partially from ragtime and blues and is characterized by syncopated rhythms, varying degrees of improvisation, often deliberate deviations of pitch, and the use of original tones and unique chording. It is a form of music that overlaps with nearly every genre of music, from blues to swing to rock to classical. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized and remains a major form of musical expression in both traditional and popular music.
Our spring concert includes such classics as:
Old Devil Moon
Stormy Weather
Mood Indigo
The Joint is Jumpin
Java Jive
Don't Get Around Much Any More
In the Still of the Night
I've Got You Under My Skin

and many more!
