LIFTING OUR VOICES TOGETHER

LIFTING OUR VOICES TOGETHER
Colorado Women of Song is a community choral group in Fort Collins, CO dedicated to providing quality musical entertainment for people of all ages. Three public concerts are performed each year, in spring, late summer, and at Christmas. The group is directed by Barbara Kay Johnson and accompanied by Ryan Marvel.
Formerly named the Women’s Choral Group of Fort Collins, the choir was originally founded in October of 1965 by Charlotte Roberts. In 2007 a change in Charlotte’s health made it impossible for her to continue directing and the choir temporarily disbanded. Unwilling to let her legacy fade into memory, the group elected to reorganize later that same year. Directorship was assumed by Barbara Johnson who since then has expanded the choir’s repertoire and created a new era of community singing. In 2011 the group formally became the Colorado Women of Song and in 2015 they celebrated their 50th anniversary with a performance at the Lincoln Center. The group is well known for performing a wide variety of music that includes show tunes, jazz, pop, folk tunes and both contemporary and traditional classical music.
The group always welcomes new members. For more information send an email to barbjohnson151@gmail.com
